Dr. Rihn is Senior Vice President and Chief
Clinical Officer of University Pharmacotherapy Associates (UPA), an ACPE-accredited corporate entity founded in 1989 dedicated to excellence
in national pharmaceutical education systems, clinical advisory panels,
pharmaceutical industry strategic consulting, disease management, and
expert pharmaceutical litigation evaluation.
Dr. Rihn is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the Duquesne
University School of Pharmacy where he is coursemaster for the integrated
biomedical science/therapeutics curriculum. He also has an adjunct faculty
appointment at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Dr.
Rihn also has nearly 20 years of experience as a clinical pharmacy specialist
in cardiovascular (CV)/critical care (CC) medicine in the Pittsburgh
Mercy Health System. He has extensive practice and research involvement
in CV/CC disease management and critical pathways, thromboembology,
medication use evaluation, pharmacoeconomics and pharmacokinetics.
His scholarly interests include managed pharmaceutical care as well
as pharmacoeconomics research in CV/CC medicine. Dr. Rihn received his
Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from
Duquesne University. He has also completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy
residency.
He has developed nationally recognized education programs on the pharmacotherapy
of acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndromes, thromboembolic
disease, sepsis, and stroke. He has published a number of scientific
papers and presented numerous invited lectures.
